Sakshi walked this earth for 16 beautiful, loving, joyful years. Her last few years were filled with challenges beyond imagination, but she did not let that dampen her larger-than-life personality, her laughter or her enjoyment of life and all that it had to offer.
Her diagnosis of Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour (DSRCT), in December 2020 shattered everyone who knew her. Despite a dismal prognosis and her share of bad days, Sakshi fought a battle worthy of superheroes.
She won everyone’s hearts – from the doctors and nurses to the hospital’s catering and housekeeping staff, from her fellow patients and their parents on the paediatric-once ward to her schoolmates, family and friends. Every person she encountered walked away feeling more positive and stronger for having met her. The people who were fortunate enough to know her and her story have walked away inspired by her kindness, laughter, grit and attitude.
Sakshi no longer walks the earth with us, but we, her family, feel her presence as strongly as ever. This is our way of fighting the cancer monster and spreading light and good cheer in her name. It is our way of ensuring that, in the end, Sakshi wins her battle against cancer.
